Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 22, 2026
The short version: JobWarden keeps your records on your own device. There is no account, no server, and no cloud. We do not collect, see, sell, or share your information. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to export, email, print, or share it.

1.Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how the JobWarden progressive web app and the website at jobwarden.kodaxa.dev (together, the “Service”) handle information. JobWarden is a private tool for documenting California workplace meal, rest-break, and wage facts. It is operated by Kodaxa Innovations (kodaxa.dev), an independent developer, not an incorporated company (“we,” “us”). This policy is still awaiting review by a licensed attorney; see the note at the end.
2.Information you put into JobWarden
You create records: dates, times, what happened, the place you work, optional photos, and your own notes. This information is stored only in your device’s browser storage (IndexedDB). It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else. We have no ability to see it, retrieve it, or recover it.
3.Information we collect
We collect no personal information. Specifically, JobWarden has:
- No account. There is no sign-up, login, name, or email required to use it.
- No server or database we control that stores your records.
- No analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
- No cookies used to identify or follow you.
- No third-party scripts embedded in the app.
Loading the Service downloads the app’s files (code, fonts, icons) from our static host. Like any website, that host may keep standard, short-lived server access logs (for example, an IP address and the file requested) for security and reliability. Those logs are a function of basic web hosting; they do not contain the contents of your records, and we do not use them to build a profile of you.
4.How and where your information is stored
Your records live in your browser’s local storage on the device where you entered them. JobWarden works fully offline after it is installed. Because the data is local:
- It is protected by your device’s own security (lock screen, disk encryption, OS protections).
- It can be lost if you uninstall the app, clear your browser’s storage, or lose the device. Local storage is not a backup.
- The app offers a “protect records” option that asks your browser to mark the storage persistent so it is less likely to be cleared automatically, though this is not a guarantee.
5.When your information leaves your device
Your records leave your device only when you choose to send them: for example, when you save a backup file, email a copy to yourself, print or save a PDF report, or use your phone’s share sheet. Once you do that, the information is handled by whatever app or service you selected (your email app, files app, printer, etc.), under that provider’s terms and privacy practices, not ours. JobWarden does not upload your data anywhere on its own.
One more place, named for completeness: if a record has a saved location, tapping “open in Google Maps” on that record opens Google Maps with those coordinates in the address. That sends the coordinates to Google, under Google’s privacy policy, not ours. Nothing else about the record is sent, and the link is the only thing on that screen that leaves your device. If you would rather not, do not tap it — the coordinates stay in your record either way.
An ordinary backup file is readable by anyone who opens it — that is what makes it restorable. Because a backup emailed to yourself then sits in an inbox, the app also offers “Save locked backup,” which encrypts the file with a passphrase you choose (AES-256-GCM, with the key derived from your passphrase on your device). The passphrase is never stored, never sent anywhere, and is not known to us: if you lose it, the file cannot be opened by anyone, including us.
6.Photos and audio
Photos you attach (for example, of a time clock or a pay stub) are stored locally with the rest of your record and are never uploaded by JobWarden. JobWarden does not record audio. California generally requires every party’s consent before recording a confidential conversation, although exceptions can apply; the app deliberately offers no audio capture.
7.Third-party services
The Service does not embed third-party trackers, advertising networks, or social widgets. Two ordinary exceptions are worth naming: (a) the static host that serves the app’s files (see Section 3), and (b) any service you choose to export to (such as your email provider). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of services you choose to send your data to.
8.Cookies and tracking technologies
JobWarden does not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, fingerprinting, or any cross-site tracking. It does use your browser’s local storage solely to hold your records on your device so the app can function offline.
9.Children’s privacy
JobWarden is intended for working adults and is not directed to children under 13. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect information from children.
10.Data security
Keeping your data on your own device, never on our servers, is itself a privacy and security choice. Still, no method of storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for securing your device and for backing up your records (using the app’s export options) so a lost or wiped device does not lose your evidence. Because we never hold your data, we cannot recover it for you.
11.Your choices and rights
You are in direct control of all of your information at all times. Within the app you can view, edit, export, and restore your records. Deleting a record moves it to Deleted, where you can restore it; from there you can delete that record forever. Settings also has Erase everything on this phone, which permanently removes every record, every attached photo, your settings, and the app’s local diagnostics from this device. Neither action can reach backup files or emails you have already sent, and neither can be undone. You can also wipe everything by clearing the app’s storage in your browser or uninstalling it. Because we do not collect or hold your data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or port on your behalf. It is already entirely in your hands.
12.California privacy notice (CCPA/CPRA)
JobWarden is built for California workers, and we take California privacy law seriously. We do not collect, sell, or share the personal information of California residents, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because no personal information is collected by us, the categories of information collected, sold, or disclosed are none. You will never receive a different price or level of service for exercising any privacy right.
13.Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and post the new version here. Material changes will be reflected in the app. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14.Contact
Questions about privacy, or want something corrected? Email Justin@Kodaxa.dev. Because your records never leave your device, we hold nothing about you to look up, change, or delete — but we will answer questions about how the Service works.
