Terms of Service
Last updated: June 22, 2026
The short version: JobWarden is a free, private tool that helps you record your own workplace facts and gives you general information about the law. It is not legal advice and not a substitute for a lawyer. It is provided “as is,” with no guarantee that its information is complete or correct. You are responsible for verifying the facts you enter and the law that applies to you.

1.Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Kodaxa Innovations (kodaxa.dev), an independent developer and not an incorporated company (“we,” “us”), governing your use of the JobWarden app and the website at jobwarden.kodaxa.dev (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms are still awaiting review by a licensed attorney; see the note at the end.
2.What JobWarden is
JobWarden is a documentation tool. It helps you record facts about your own workplace (meal and rest breaks, off-the-clock work, pay, and related events), seals each record with a fingerprint so changes can be detected, and presents general information about California wage-and-hour law. Your records are stored only on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy.
3.Not legal advice; no attorney-client relationship
JobWarden does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for a licensed attorney. It supplies general legal information and a way to record your own facts. We are not a law firm, we do not practice law, and we do not represent you. Using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship, and nothing in the Service should be relied on as legal advice about your specific situation.
The Service does not tell you whether a law was broken, does not predict the outcome of any claim, does not calculate money owed, and does not prepare or file legal documents on your behalf. For advice about your situation, or to file a claim, consult a licensed employment attorney or the California Labor Commissioner (DLSE). Deadlines (statutes of limitation) apply to wage claims; do not delay because you are using this app.
4.No warranty; provided “as is”
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We do not warrant that the legal information in the Service is complete, current, or correct, that its factual findings are accurate, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Laws change, and the information may become out of date. A fingerprinted record shows that its contents have not changed since you saved it; it does not prove that the times or facts you entered are true.
5.Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Accuracy. Entering truthful, accurate information, and verifying it before relying on it.
- The law. Confirming the law that applies to you with an attorney or the Labor Commissioner. JobWarden currently covers California rules only.
- Backups. Backing up your records using the app’s export tools. Records live only on your device and can be lost; we cannot recover them.
- Lawful use. Using the Service in compliance with all applicable laws (see Acceptable use, below).
A self-kept log is structured, contemporaneous testimony. Its strength comes from being made at or near the time of each event, being factual, and being corroborated (for example, by photos of a time clock or pay stub). It is not automatic proof, and we make no representation about how any court, agency, employer, or other party will treat it.
6.Your records are your own statements
Everything you enter into JobWarden is your own account of your own experience, written by you. We never see it, never review it, and never verify it. We make no representation that anything in your records is accurate, complete, or true, and nothing the Service displays should be understood as us agreeing with, endorsing, or corroborating what you wrote.
Where the Service labels something a “possible issue,” that label is a pointer to a general rule that may relate to what you entered. It is not a determination that any rule was broken, that any amount is owed, or that you have a claim. Whether a rule applies to you turns on facts the Service does not have, including your job duties, any agreements you have signed, and your employer’s records.
We make no representation about whether your records will be accepted, admitted, or given weight by any employer, investigator, agency, arbitrator, or court, or about the effect of the fingerprint feature in any proceeding.
7.No reliance; assumption of risk
You agree that you will not rely on the Service as the basis for any legal decision, and that any decision you make about your employment, about filing or not filing a claim, or about any deadline is your own, made with the advice of a licensed attorney or the Labor Commissioner if you choose to seek it. You accept the risk that the Service’s legal information may be incomplete, outdated, or inapplicable to you.
Deadlines apply to wage claims and they will not pause because you are keeping a log. Using this app is not notice to your employer, is not the filing of a claim, and does not preserve, toll, or extend any deadline.
8.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of profits, loss of evidence, or damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, or from any reliance on its information or findings, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service (which is zero for the free Service) or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
Indemnity. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party and arising out of your use of the Service, the content you create with it, how you share or publish that content, or your violation of these Terms or of any law.
9.Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and only to document your own workplace experience. You agree not to misuse the Service or use it to harass, defame, or harm others. Do not use the Service to record audio. California generally requires every party’s consent before recording a confidential conversation, although exceptions can apply; the Service deliberately provides no audio capture. Your records are yours; you are responsible for how you store, share, and use them.
10.Intellectual property and license
The Service, including its software, design, text, and the “JobWarden” name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Open-source components are used under their own licenses. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own documentation. You retain all rights to the records and content you create.
11.Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains that your records stay on your device and that we collect no personal information.
12.Third-party services and links
The Service may link to third-party resources (such as the California Labor Commissioner) and may let you send your data to services you choose (such as your email app). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their practices. Your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
13.Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and remove it by uninstalling it and clearing its storage. We may modify or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive (including Not legal advice, No warranty, Limitation of liability, Intellectual property, and Governing law) will survive any termination.
14.Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
15.Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version here. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
16.Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect, and the unenforceable provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior understandings.
