THE PRODUCT / HOW IT WORKS

From a moment
to a usable record.

JobWarden is a private workday log for California hourly workers. It helps you capture what happened, keep supporting details together, and take your records with you.

It is not a job board, an employer timeclock, or a legal service. It is a place for your own account of your working day.

01 / CAPTURE THE MOMENT

Start with
what happened.

Choose the kind of event you want to record. JobWarden then asks for the relevant details, rather than making you complete the same long form every time.

Add the date, place, times, people involved, and a factual note. Attach photos of a timeclock, pay stub, or relevant message. Location capture is optional.

The interrupted-lunch shortcut helps you record that event quickly. The shift tracker can show meal-timing alerts while the app is open—not reliably after you close it.

WHAT YOU CAN KEEP TRACK OF

More than missed breaks.

01

Meals & rest breaks

Missed, late, short, interrupted, or on-duty breaks and the details around them.

02

Unpaid work & hours

Work before or after clocking in, shift times, and hours you want to review.

03

Pay records & tips

Pay-stub concerns, tip issues, and supporting photos or notes.

04

Scheduling & expenses

Reporting to work, split workdays, and work costs paid out of pocket.

05

Speaking up & leave

What you reported, what happened afterward, and sick-leave events.

06

Final pay

When employment ended, when payment arrived, and the surrounding facts.

02 / REVIEW YOUR RECORDS

Less scattered.
More connected.

Review your entries in one place. Filter related records, revisit the original context, and look at summaries of repeated events.

Each record keeps its original creation time, and edits are logged. A content fingerprint helps detect changes to stored information; it does not certify that an account is true.

California-specific information can highlight details to review. It does not decide whether your employer broke the law or calculate what you are owed.

WHAT STAYS WITH AN ENTRY

01

Your account

The event, times, place, and what you remember.

02

Supporting details

Photos and context you choose to attach.

03

A history of changes

The original creation time and a record of edits.

04

A broader view

Related entries and repeated-event summaries.

03 / TAKE YOUR RECORDS WITH YOU

Your records.
Your next step.

Choose an export that fits the task. Sharing is your decision; JobWarden does not contact your employer, a government agency, or an attorney for you.

REPORT

Something to read.

Create a printable report or a one-page pattern summary. Use your device’s print dialog to save a PDF where supported.

CSV

Something to sort.

Export a spreadsheet-friendly record of your entries for your own review or to share with someone you choose.

BACKUP

Something to restore.

Save a full backup with photos, or encrypt a backup with a passphrase. Restore a plain or locked backup into the app later.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

A work log.
Not another account.

Your records live in this browser’s storage on this device. JobWarden has no account system, cloud sync, or analytics tracking.

There is no automatic upload of your entries. When you export, email, print, or share, you decide where that copy goes.

Clearing browser data or losing the device can erase your records. Keep a separate backup.

WEBSITE + PWA / IN TRIAL

Try the workflow.
Know the boundaries.

JobWarden is currently in trial. It is designed around California hourly-worker records; other states are not presented as supported.

Review by a licensed California employment attorney is still pending. The trial is not a clearance for public launch.

This is a recordkeeping tool, not legal advice or representation. It does not calculate damages, make filings, or promise an outcome.

Created by Justin Davis, an independent developer at Kodaxa—not a law firm. Send trial feedback.

Before you begin.

What is a PWA?

A progressive web app is a website you can install through a supported browser. JobWarden can appear on your home screen and open in its own app window. The install guide walks through the options for your device.

Does it work without a connection?

After the app has loaded and its offline files are saved, you can use it without a connection. Open it online once before relying on it offline.

Will my phone and laptop stay in sync?

No. Each browser and device has separate local records. Use export and restore to move a copy; there is no automatic cloud synchronization.

Are all my records encrypted?

The passphrase-locked backup option encrypts that exported file. This does not mean the app’s local records or ordinary exports are encrypted. A lost backup passphrase cannot be recovered.

Can I record a conversation?

JobWarden does not record audio. You can write a factual note about a conversation instead.

What happens if I make a mistake?

You can edit a record while preserving its original creation time and edit history. Deleted records can be restored from Deleted until you remove them permanently.

Can it tell me whether I have a legal claim?

No. JobWarden organizes your own account and offers general information. A qualified employment attorney or the appropriate agency can review your circumstances.
